in praise of SLOW - Carl Honoré
Totally brilliant book. Every watched a wildlife programme and wished your own life was as simple as finding food, eating food and sh*gging? I have. This book is the answer.
At its core is the message that you don't need to drop out of modern life completely, but that you shouldn't race along like you are. Find that balance. Take it easier, be less hard on yourself. Enjoy what you have. Its very easy to be unhappy when you constantly want more of everything - the happiest people are those who are happy with what they've got. If you have no ambitions, you can't be disappointed (you're also not likely to achieve very much - its all about balance).
Carl discusses not only working lives but sex, education, food, medicine, leisure and life in general. If I won the lottery I'd set up a charity that sent these books for free to people who I thought needed them the most.
Buy it, read it, digest it.
