Social Enterprise is all about balancing money-making with doing-good. So I have structured my life along the same principles.

Pure Capitalism

I am a qualified Tax Consultant and currently work at Baker Tilly Chartered Accountants in their Guildford office, in the Corporation Tax Department. I assist companies with their tax compliance (completing tax returns); advise on planning and tax structures, am one of the firm's Charities Tax Experts and am also the local Corporate Responsibility Champion.

Social Enterprise

I recently enjoyed a career break which I used to enter the Third Sector and advised on a social enterprise start-up project called VISAGE that was funded by the European Social Fund. During my time on the project I met a lot of disabled entrepreneurs and was inspired by them all. We set up five businesses each of which had differing levels of success. After 3 year two survive and are going strong - both led by entrepreneurs with a passion for what they are doing.

It is my time on the project that intrduced me to social enterprise and fundamentally altered my outlook from a selfish one of making money to a selfless one of helping the planet. I now spend my spare time volunteering for other social enterprises; helping out social entrepreneurs with the early stages of their business's growth. Inspirate.org is the vehicle I am using for this.

I am an avid athlete, taking part in as many races as my baby son will allow. I have completed the 130km closed-road Etape Caledonia a couple of times and am now concentrating on 10k running races. You will no longer find me on Box Hill most weekends, as I now live in Sussex. So Ditchling Beacon it is!
