Ancient Giants - Artist Call Out
About Ancient Giants
Ancient Giants is a street theatre production that has been in development for two years, bringing together a highly experienced Creative Team; Tom Cleaver (puppet master), Chirag Lukha (martial arts specialist and choreographer), and Parmjit Sagoo (Executive Producer).
The performance represents the struggle between good and evil, an epic display of honour and loyalty, as Hanuman (The Monkey God) battles with Ravana (The Demon King) to rescue Sita and reunite her with Rama.
Hanuman and Ravana are well known characters from the ancient epic, Ramayana. They are majestically depicted in this dynamic pop up performance inspired by a pivotal moment when these two powerful characters meet and confront each other.
Two enormous 10ft puppets interact with audiences as they make their way to their dramatic confrontation, leading to a Transformers-style battle; an explosive fusion of South Asian martial arts and dance. The show includes both a walkabout and a performance element.
Ancient Giants is performed by 7 professional artists who will operate the large-scale puppets and convey the story through martial arts, dance and physical storytelling.
