Creating lasting cultural and social impact.
Our work goes beyond artistic output — it supports people, transforms communities and helps shape a more inclusive cultural sector.
Inspirate’s work reaches across the UK, bringing people together through shared cultural experiences while driving long-term change in how the arts sector operates.
We measure success in new audiences engaged, opportunities created, voices amplified and partnerships sustained. Inspirate has engaged over 650,000 attendees and reached an estimated 2.9 million people through campaigns spanning social media, radio, TV, print and place marketing — with 77% based in Leicester and 23% travelling from across the UK.
Behind those numbers are real stories: young people discovering a passion for music through Bridging Beats; communities seeing their heritage shared and understood with pride; artists reaching national platforms they may not otherwise have accessed. That is the impact we are here to create.
Our Effect
For Artists
We support global majority artists to develop their practice, access national platforms and build sustainable creative careers. Through commissions, residencies, development programmes and our partnership with Without Walls, we create genuine pathways from local ideas to nationally significant work.
Our track record includes collaborations with artists such as Seeta Patel, Abi Sampa, Rushil Ranjan, Vidya Patel and Nitin Sawhney. Alongside this, we continue to invest in the next generation of artists through co-commissions and development opportunities shaped with national partners.
For Communities
Our work creates spaces for belonging, dialogue and shared identity, particularly for communities underrepresented in mainstream culture. In Belgrave and Highfields — two of Leicester’s most diverse neighbourhoods — our Bridging Beats programme is developing the next generation of creative talent. We shape and deliver our arts programmes through community voice, shared creativity and leadership.
For Places
Through festivals and public programmes, we contribute to civic pride, local economies and cultural identity. An Indian Summer transforms Leicester city centre every year, activating Jubilee Square, Cathedral Gardens, Leicester Cathedral, the Guildhall and cultural venues. The festival attracts visitors from across the UK and positions Leicester as a destination for nationally significant cultural experiences.
For the Sector
We influence how culture is programmed, commissioned and experienced. As a member of the Without Walls Artistic Directorate and a National Portfolio Organisation, we have a genuine voice in shaping national practice — and we use it to drive greater inclusion, better representation and a more equitable landscape in the UK cultural sector.
Building for Tomorrow
Inspirate is evolving from cultural producer to sector enabler — deepening our national presence, expanding into new cities and strengthening the infrastructure that supports South Asian artists, communities and cultural leaders.
Through commissioning, community partnerships, inclusive heritage programmes and our research partnership with Loughborough University, we are building a pipeline of creative talent that will shape British culture for decades to come. The story of South Asian arts in Britain is being rewritten — and Inspirate is helping to lead that change.
